Rarer Cancers Forum Virtual Flower Award 2006/07/04

Maria distributed RCF leaflets and did a magnificent job raising awareness of the RCF. Then on 2nd July 2006 she completed a sponsored tandem skydive and raised £717 for the RCF.

Maria was diagnosed with a rare spinal cord tumour in 2001 and following emergency surgery she was left paralysed from the waist down for several months.  She still finds it difficult to walk but she uses a mobility scooter to get around.

For some time Maria has been working hard distributing RCF leaflets in her area.  Then on 2nd July 2006 she made a tandem skydive for three charities, one of which is the RCF.  For someone who says she is “terrified of heights” this is a tremendous achievement.

As a result of her sponsored skydive Maria has raised £717 for the RCF.  This is absolutely wonderful news and will help the RCF to go on developing and doing more for people with rarer cancers.  Our heartiest congratulations to Maria on her great achievement and our sincere thanks for her unstinting support for the RCF.
