Well done, Hannah, and many thanks!

Thursday, October 05, 2006

On 17 September, Hannah ran the Bristol Half Marathon in place of her sister, Claire, who was badly injured while out training for the event (see RCF news item, 16 September).  Although Hannah had no time to prepare, she completed the 13.3 miles in an amazing 2 hours 40 minutes - a really great achievement!

It was a gruelling run, but Hannah thinks that maybe the thought of being overtaken by Barney the Dinosaur and two people running in a camel outfit spurred her on!

Hannah raised £2,711 in sponsorship money for the Rarer Cancers Forum and Gift Aid contributions increased the total to a magnificant £3,244.10. We're very grateful indeed to Hannah. She and her sister, Claire, are an inspiration to us all. As a token of our thanks, both Hannah and Claire have been awarded a Rarer Cancers Forum Flower Award.  Hannah writes: "Thanks so much for the flower - it is really sweet and I love the idea... real ones just die, this one will last forever!"

These 'before and after' pictures show just how much effort Hannah put into the event.
