Treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)

Monday, October 09, 2006

In its 05 October 2006 issue, the New England Journal of Medicine published the findings of a study showing that the drug lenalidomide significantly improves the symptoms of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), an incurable blood cancer, and in some cases eliminates all signs of the cancer’s genetic cause, an abnormality on chromosome 5.

The marketing authorisation application for lenalidomide (Revlimid™) has been accepted for review by the European Medicines Agency.
