Mouth cancer on the increase

Monday, November 20, 2006

Mouth cancer can affect the cheeks, lips, tongue and throat.

According to the British Dental Health Foundation, every year in the UK there are 4,400 new cases of mouth cancer and 1,700 people die from this disease. These figures are increasing each year.

The Foundation states that "if mouth cancer is diagnosed in its early stages it can respond well to treatment and the chances of a complete cure are good. This is why regular dental check-ups are so important".
