Exceptional funding for cancer treatment

The following information was requested from the PCT under the Freedom of Information Act.

Written protocols
The PCT has a protocol/process.  It operates an exceptional case procedure for all cases irrespective of whether they are procedures or drugs.


Cancer treatments funded by PCT following exceptional requests

Since 01 October 2006, the PCT approved two patients' exceptional requests for cancer treatment.  The treatments were lenalidomide and sunitinib. 

Cancer treatments not funded by PCT following exceptional requests

Since 01 October 2006, the PCT has not refused any cancer treatments following exceptional requests.
