Exceptional funding for cancer treatment

The following information was requested from the PCT in 2008 under the Freedom of Information Act.

Written protocols
The PCT is part of the North of England Cancer Network and requests are dealt with via the  North of England Cancer Drugs Approval Group (NE CDAG). The information given below applies to Hartlepool PCT, Middlesborough PCT, North Tees PCT (now Stockton-on-Tees Teaching PCT), Redcar and Cleveland PCT. This group has written terms of reference. Membership of the NE CDAG is as follows:

  • Chair (Chief Executive)
  • Network Director
  • Network Pharmacists
  • Four Clinical Representatives (two north and two south)
  • Patient and Carer Group Representative from north and south
  • Network Medical Director and Lead Clinician
  • SHA Executive Lead
  • Communications Lead
  • Five PCO Executive Leads (one North Cumbria, four from combined North East SHA area)
  • Public Health

Cancer treatments funded/not funded by PCT following exceptional requests

The PCTs had not received any exceptional requests for cancer treatment since 01 October 2006.
