Exceptional funding for cancer treatment

The following information was requested from the PCT under the Freedom of Information Act.

Written protocols
The PCT has written protocols but these are not unique to cancer requests.

Cancer treatments funded/not funded  by PCT following exceptional requests

The PCT was asked to confirm or deny whether any patients' exceptional requests for cancer treatments had been approved by the PCT since 01 October 2006. The Freedom of Information Officer replied: "A number of requests have been approved, however, the PCT is only starting to operate an electronic database to record decisions and therefore isn't able at this stage to provide numbers".  Questions about the numbers of patients whose exceptional requests for treatment had been approved, and the cancer treatments funded/not funded by the PCT were marked as "N/A" by the Freedom of Information Officer.
