Written protocols
All exceptional requests, whether for cancer drugs or other treatments, are considered by the PCT's Commissioning Panel which is guided by the principles contained in their Effective Use of Resources policy.

Cancer treatments funded by PCT following exceptional requests

Between 01 October 2006 and 31 May 2008, the PCT approved the following treatments:

  • Renal cell carcinoma: sunitunib - 4 cases
  • Multiple myeloma: lenalidomide - 1 case
  • Lymphoma: maintenance therapy with rituximab - 1 case

Cancer treatments not funded by PCT following exceptional requests

  • Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia: lenalidomide - 1 case
