Charlotte and Emma Buckland's Reading Half MarathonCharlotte and Emma both ran for Rarer Cancers Forum in the Reading Asics Half Marathon. Since their childhood they have been personal friends of RCF Chief Executive, Penny Wilson-Webb, who died on 18 December 2008. This is why they want to run for RCF and raise funds for the charity: "Penny Wilson-Webb has been a huge inspiration to us, both as children and into our adult lives; encouraging us to believe that life should be enjoyed to the full and showing us that anything can be achieved with commitment, passion and lots of hard work. Given all the amazing work Penny undertook throughout her life, we felt strongly that we wanted to show our love and gratitude to Penny and raise money for her charity. This will be Emma’s first half marathon, and Charlie's second - so we’re both hoping to be able to run it in around 2 – 2.5 hours. We want to raise as much money as possible for the RCF, so thank you very much for your donation! It will make a big difference to the lives of so many people with rarer and less common cancers". News update from Charlotte and Emma - 30 March 2009"We did our run yesterday in 2 hours 27 mins! We thought of Penny the whole way round. Thanks for all your support - we are hoping to raise some more money for Rarer Cancers again soon". Well done, Charlotte and Emma, and thank you so much! It's still not too late to sponsor Charlotte and Emma. You can support them and the Rarer Cancers Forum by donating online. Alternatively you can send a cheque to: Rarer Cancers Forum, The Great Barn, Godmersham Park, Canterbury, Kent CT4 7DT.
